Red Bull Trail Heads 2021

Today saw the inaugural running of the Red Bull trailheads running event, here on the Gold Coast Australia, this event was a new concept designed by Red Bull ambassador Courtney Atkinson. With one of the best prizes of any race this year (dare I say the best prize) The Gold Coast running community came out in force to get behind this new concept.

As I'm recovering from a little niggle at the moment, unfortunately I didn't participate but I made my way out to Numinbah valley to socialise, spectate and to take photos!

The general consensus was that the event was a hit, although some speculated that the muddy conditions made the course quite treacherous, it could be argued that this just added to the excitement. In addition to your typical first, second and third there was also a trophy for the King /Queen of the mountain (the fastest time on a particular segment). With both the King and Queen trophies going to runners who were already on the podium!

With a Red bull Sponsored Trip to Japan and entry into the Red bull 400 for the winner there was no shortage of quality runners laying down some fast times. But in the end, it came down to an elite few!
